Nose | Fresh and floral with aromas of mixed herbs and cedar wood. Hints of smoked orange and grapefruit are contrasted by powerful bursts of diesel oil, tar and aniseed. |
Palate | A vibrant, zingy profile that provides distinctive biscuit, mint toffee and cigar ash notes. |
Finish | A long, salty aftertaste with hints of mint, tar and leather. |
This special Committee-only release from Ardbeg highlights the effect of the longest fermentation in the distillery’s history. This limited edition whisky is the result of an accident in 2007 where a broken boiler led to six washbacks with tens of thousands of litres of fermented wort being left behind to distill. The result is a unique whisky that combines peat and smoke with fresh, floral flavours with malty notes providing a zingy character.
